The Columbine Middle School Rams eight grade football team manage beat their eight grade opponents the Centennial Braves, 16-10, under the bright lights of Montrose High School Tuesday evening. Hundreds of fans were in attendance to watch as the action between the two schools. The score was 16-2 at half-time with Columbine leading, Centennial's two points came from a late second quarter safety.
The Rams' defense held strong only allowing a touchdown and two-point conversion in the fourth quarter making the final score 16-10.

Saturday marked the 100-year celebration of the Gunnison Tunnel, one of many projects built under the Federal Reclamation Act of 1902 (a.k.a. Newlands Act). The purpose was to tunnel water from the Gunnison River through the hills east of Montrose to potential farm land in the Uncompahgre Valley, swelling the agriculturual potential of Montrose,
Olathe and Delta.
